If your car is having an issue while you are driving, attempt to get to the right-hand shoulder of the road as soon as possible, particularly if you are on a highway. As you pull your car off the roadway, keep the following security precautions in mind:
• Try to coast along the shoulder until you are away from any curves in the road behind you. This positioning settles when you are ready to return onto the roadway due to the fact that you can spot oncoming traffic before it is on your tail.
• If the engine dies right on the highway and you can not get off the roadway, do not leave the cars and truck! Being in a dead automobile with traffic piling up behind you is unnerving, but attempting to cross a high-speed freeway on foot is suicide.

Whether you have managed to park at the side of the road or you are stuck in a traffic lane, keep in mind these extra security preventative measures:
• Roll down the window on the driver's side, hang out a white cloth or piece of paper, and roll the window back up to secure it in place: The fabric or paper signals motorists that your car is in trouble and that they should continue around you.
• If you understand that you're going to need roadside support, use your cellphone to call your vehicle club or the highway patrol: If you have no phone, and you can see an emergency situation call box just a few feet away, use the call box to call for help, get right back in the cars and truck, and lock the doors. If no call box neighbors, you are most likely better off just hanging the white fabric or notepad out the window and waiting on the highway patrol.
• To avoid being struck by a passing car, never deal with your automobile from the side that is exposed to traffic. If you can, drive farther off the road to a safe, well-traveled location, and attempt to reach into the trouble location from the front or the side that is far from traffic.
• If it is daylight, placed on your emergency situation blinkers to alert oncoming traffic to the fact that your automobile is not moving. This is not a good concept in the evening because vehicle drivers turning up behind you may believe that your car is still rolling along the highway and run go here right into the rear end of your vehicle.
• If it's nighttime and you are not stuck in traffic, rapidly put warning lights or reflective markers about 6 feet behind the car to alert traffic, and then return in the vehicle. If you do not have lights or markers, either turn on the interior lights by hand or leave the automobile door that is away from traffic open so that the interior lights stay on.
• If you get a blowout, do not attempt to change it unless you can get to the side of the roadway and the tire is on the side of the vehicle that is securely away from traffic.
Due to the reality that driving on a flat tire for any longer than it requires to get to safety can damage the tire, you need to change it near to where it went flat. This is one reason that calling a roadside service company is a great decision!
